We Really Need Your Help
We are the Lafayette War Veterans, a 501C-19 nonprofit veterans service group which operates the Veterans Memorial Building in Lafayette, CA. Our building hosts community, business, public and personal events and provides a place for Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8063 and American Legion Post 517 to meet and plan service efforts. But it is much more than that. It is an engine whose operation provides money for aid to local veterans in need. That money goes to other local veterans service groups to provide aid that fills gaps not covered by the Veterans Affairs Department of the government. Examples are helping with rent, providing appliances and even used automobiles, transportation for those who cannot drive, and services such as guidance through the process of securing earned benefits such as educational loans or medical care. We pay our own expenses as individuals and volunteer our time to help with building operations.
Vets line up for medical aid at East Bay Stand Down
Since March of 2020, we have had expenses of over $7,500 per month for utilities, maintenance, insurance, and payroll. We have had no significant revenue since COVID19 shut down our ability to host events in February 2020. If we do not get additional funds in the very near future, we may lose control of the building and our ability to aid veterans financially may disappear forever. We need enough money to pay our expenses until we are permitted to reopen the building and reestablish the revenue stream. We estimate that need at about $50,000, which is our goal in this campaign. All donations to this cause are tax deductible.

We would be grateful for any amount, large or small, which you can contribute to help us make it to a reopening and resumption of normal operations. Another very important way to help is to pass this appeal on to your friends, family, or business associates. You may choose to be identified as a donor on the Go Fund Me page or you may donate anonymously.

We know that this time of social restrictions may be difficult for you, as it has been for us, and we will do our utmost to conserve and use all donations as efficiently and as frugally as possible. Many thanks and our salute for anything you can do.
