Abaco Hurricane Dorian Relief
Donation protected
The Abaco Club on Winding Bay is acting to provide urgent and immediate assistance to the people of Great Abaco Island. We know that there are many people who hold this special island in their hearts, and now it is our turn to show the people of Abaco how loved they are in return. It is an urgent and dire situation. Every minute and every dollar counts. We are asking members and residents of our Southworth Communities, their friends and family, and all who are heartbroken as we are about those impacted by the devastation caused by Hurricane Dorian to donate anything they can.
Contributions will be distributed by the Abaco-Winding Bay Relief Fund, a charitable organization created expressly for this effort with 501(c)3 status. All funds received from this GoFundMe campaign will be used to provide assistance specifically to the people of Abaco in the form of food, shelter, medical aid and supplies, and assistance in the island’s clean-up and rebuilding efforts.
DONATION MATCH: Your donations to this page will have double the impact as the Chairman of Southworth Development, Joseph Deitch, has pledged to match the first $1M raised on this page.
Please note that when making your donation, there is an option to include a “tip” to support GoFundMe. If you do not wish to include a tip in your contribution, select “Other” from the drop down menu and enter “0” in the amount field. If you experience any issues with unintended fees added to your contribution, you may request a refund of the tip here: https://support.gofundme.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Background: On September 1, 2019, Hurricane Dorian barreled through Great Abaco as a monster Category 5 hurricane. In many parts of the island—particularly in the Marsh Harbour area—there was catastrophic destruction. Most sadly, it appears that there was also loss of life, and reports indicate that hundreds of homes were destroyed.
