A Little Juju Podcast is a beloved Spirituality podcast hosted by me, Juju Bae, that prioritizes Black ancestral healing, "witchy pop" culture takes, and uplifts the many spiritual traditions of the African Diaspora in the digital age.
As you may know, the acclaimed A Little Juju Podcast is currently on hiatus. This hiatus is due to financial insecurities and a lack of funding for the show. A Little Juju podcast has proliferated since its inception in 2018, with over 15,000 listeners within a month on ONE episode and well over ONE MILLION listens total! This rapid increase and an iHeartradio award nom later, required elevation of the show like guest recruitment, audio engineering, script planning/writing, content development, prep, ad placements, and more. I sought a team (a black queer femme, disabled-owned one at that) to assist me in keeping up with this growing community and maintaining my peace as an independent spiritualist. Yet unfortunately, large communities, listenerships, and followings do not always equal funding or enough monetary support.
In full transparency, in attempts to maintain the show with proper help, I have incurred well over $10,000 of debt and pushed beyond my financial limits to upkeep the show. I've now fallen short on payments and have been financially struggling for almost one year in silence. I honestly just wanted to make you all proud and continue giving you weekly content centering the richness of our traditions. For this reason, I am launching this one dollar campaign to raise $30,000 to keep A Little Juju Podcast around for seasons to come. This one dollar or more donation directly goes to:
1) paying off the remaining ALJPod debts from previous seasons to the hardworking team (around 12k)
2) secure future episodes and a new season with a lump sum payment to a team of folks who help keep ALJ afloat! So yes, this funding is going directly to other people to continue ALJPod!
Of course, you can donate more than one dollar, but the reason I am focused on $1 is to suggest an amount that you won’t miss too much. It is less than a cup of coffee or a loaf of bread to donate to a show that is truly bigger than one person. We can fully experience communal support and care by passing the plate to share.
We have always been an independent 100% personally and community-funded show, so I can’t do this without you. I have been funding A Little Juju Podcast out of pocket for the past four years. Now, I want to intentionally bring my community in to support our beloved podcast's continuation, properly pay other independent producers for their labor, and continue honoring our ancestors one episode at a time. Thank you so much for always loving and supporting me.
Thank you for reading. Take care, and may you be blessed for your sharing!
And remember, all you need is a little juju <3
