Support Baai Alkebulan House - Help Us Raise $53,000 to Keep Our Doors Open!

Baai Alkebulan's African Library, Art and History Museum has been doing vital work over the past 14 months—connecting young people, many of them at-risk, to African culture, identity, and community right here in Melbourne.

Now, we need your help.

We’ve moved into a larger space at 34 Moreland Street, Footscray to meet growing community demand. But to keep this space running and continue our programs, we urgently need to raise $53,000. This amount will secure the rent and operating costs of Alkebulan House for the next six months.

As a grassroots, community-led organisation, there is truly no place like Baai Alkebulan House. When our community needs us, we’re here. And now, we’re asking for that same support in return.

Every week, we:

Help improve academic outcomes for African and CALD students through culturally safe tutoring programs.

Run programs on African history, identity, and pride to strengthen young people’s sense of belonging.

Host reading groups that build confidence, creativity, and critical thinking.

Connect youth to African culture through excursions, sport, and community-led learning.

With your support, we will continue connecting young people in Melbourne’s west to African culture and community and running Australia’s first African Library, Arts and History Museum.
