Barista Relief Fund - Dollop River North
Donation protected
I'm the manager at one of the Dollop Coffee shops (643 N Wells, Chicago) and myself and my crew were all temporarily furloughed/laid-off due to the Illinois restaurant/bar closure mandate due to COVID-19.
Any funds donated will be split evenly among us, in total there are 10 of us. This crew is a patchwork of writers, students, musicians, artists, singers, photographers and simply good human beings.
While the state of Illinois will offer some unemployment assistance, they've been overwhelmed by the flood of newly unemployed cases they have to work through and there's no telling when those checks will start flowing.
Our employer has also pledged to donate 100% of profits from online sales of their retail coffee beans to employees: go to www.dollopcoffee.com/product-category/coffee-beans/ if you'd like some good coffee delivered to your doorstep (both the Brazil Supremo and Rwanda Kinini are superior roasts).
Support given will mean some of my employees will get to buy essentials like food, soap, medicine and sanitary goods. This is a plea for basic necessities from the online universe/community, a plea that is not unlike many others out there, also from the service industry, asking for exactly the same thing.
The gratitude we will all have cannot be quantified with even the smallest of donations. Thank you for your time. Stay safe and healthy and we can't wait to pull shots of espresso for Chicago again!!! -Gabriel
