Berber & You | Nourishing our NHS

These are troubling times.

The global pandemic that has gripped the entire world threatens the very fabric of our society, our livelihoods and our health. 

We are all suffering, but perhaps the people who are in most danger, aside from those high risk patients who contract Covid-19, are the doctors, nurses and other workers who are employed by the NHS. They will have to brave their hospital wards and walk straight into the lion's den every. single. day, whilst the rest of us stay at home and self-isolate. This will take enormous courage. They will be our frontline of defence against Coronavirus and we will all depend on them to nurse us back to health, to get us through this dark moment in our history, and to be our true heroes. Yet they are likely to be overrun, under-nourished and exhausted.

Out of the depths of this darkness comes a determination to do some good, to shine a shaft of light, to drive positivity and to help. This is what we believe the world needs NOW, more than ever before. 

Berber & Q is a restaurant group with two small restaurants which are currently closed. Our kitchens currently lie empty, and our team without work. 

We are looking to raise funds so that we can support the NHS and its workers during this hour of need, by supplying any hospitals local to our restaurants with as much Berber & Q free food as we can make. We will mobilise our workforce to deliver them with nourishing and restorative meals, to make them know just how much we appreciate them, how much we need them. 

YOUR MONEY WILL BE NEEDED FOR

Food

Cost of ingredients
Packaging, cutlery, napkins, bags

Additional costs

Transport - vans (rentals, zipvan), petrol, parking
Hygiene supplies - masks, gloves, disposable aprons, hair nets, sanitisers, hand gels, hand wash, cleaning supplies

Jobs

Chefs - ordering, prepping, cooking, cleaning
Front of house - packaging, labeling, organising, dispatching, delivery

Staff

We will Pay our staff who are now unemployed due to restaurant closure - and not benefitting from the scheme put in place by the government (We are still waiting to see how this scheme will help our staff who were on zero hour contracts).

WE WON'T USE YOUR MONEY FOR

This is a non profit initiative, everything we raise will go towards the key aim of the project- creating healthy meals for NHS workers and employing staff who have lost jobs and don't benefit from government support.

No money will be spent on management costs, administration or rent

No money will be spent on advertising

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We will be able to produce more food and get it to more people for less money if we receive donations.

So if you are able to help by donating or supplying the following at reduced costs please get in touch:

- Food ingredients: we would be interested to talk to suppliers who have excess stock that they can't shift
- Hygiene supplies
- Packaging: labels, stickers, food packaging containers
- Logistic infrastructure: vans, drivers, insulated transport boxes
 
TARGET

If we can raise 30k, we can run this for the next month, the Government has said it is likely to be 12 weeks. We would love to raise 100k to keep this alive and help as many people as possible
