Bolton Hospice in memory of Abigail “Wonder Woman” Clegg
I’m raising money in memory of my amazing Auntie Abigail (aka Wonder woman) for Bolton Hospice who cared for Abigail in the last few weeks of her life. Auntie Abigail was born with a rare form of Gorlins syndrome. At just 18 months old, Auntie Abigail had her first brain tumour removed. In her 37 years she had treatment for 7 more tumours (mainly in her brain). Each time she faced her operations and treatment incredibly bravely. In early 2023, another brain tumour was found and, knowing it was untreatable, Abigail spent as much time in her final 12 months doing as much as possible with friends and family. Abigail’s final few weeks were spent at Bolton Hospice. The team there were incredible, kind, and caring. They went out of their way to make Abigail feel as comfortable as possible, day and night. I’d like to raise some money to go towards another bed at the hospice.
From 24th July, for 1 week, I’ll be living in the garden shed, making my own meals outside, washing my clothes (also outside), and keeping any spends within a small budget. I’ve not done anything like this before. I will have my teddy bear (called Abigail) with me in the shed to remind me of why I’m doing it. My teddy bear used to be Auntie Abigail’s and she came to live with me when Abigail died.
