Chris Baker - World Wrestling Championships
Donation protected
The Canberra PCYC Wresting Club is helping to raise funds for Chris Baker to compete at the 2023 World Junior Wresting Championships in Poland, from the
14 -20 August. Chris is a well loved and highly respected member of our wrestling team, and he needs help and support from the community to achieve his sporting dream.
Chris began wrestling when he was 10 years old under the guidance of Witold Rejlich, former Australian Commonwealth Games Wrestling Head Coach. Today Chris is giving back to the community by coaching our own junior athletes and beginners across the ACT.
Chris is the current Australian National Champion for his age and weight class, one of his many achievements in the sport of wrestling. In 2022 Chris was selected to represent the Australian National team in both the junior and senior divisions to compete in Europe. Unfortunately, as wrestling is a semi-professional sport Chris was unable to participate due to a lack of funding for athletes at the national level. Although Chris is working very hard to self-fund his trip to Poland, there is only so much that his wage as a trade-based apprentice will cover.
As a community, we don't want Chris to miss out on the opportunity to wrestle at the highest level ever again. Together with your support we can help Chris to fund his airfares, accommodation, training and competition expenses for Poland.
No amount is too small, and your donations will help Chris to achieve his dream of becoming a WORLD CHAMPION!
