Christina Thomson Scholarship
Donation protected
Christina Thomson was an airline pilot, a tireless union representative working on behalf of her fellow pilots, and an inspiration to all the women and girls who will follow in her footsteps.
With her tragic passing, Air Line Pilots Association Canada Officers Captain Tim Perry (Westjet), Captain Rod Lypchuk (Jazz) and Captain Louis-Éric Mongrain (Air Transat), are committed to honoring Christina’s life. As you may know, Tim and Christina in particular were very close, having been roommates and colleagues in the early stages of their respective pilot careers, and then ALPA volunteers and leaders while flying for WestJet.
To ensure that Christina’s legacy can continue to inspire future generations, Tim, Rod, Louis-Éric are working with Christina’s family, especially her brother Captain Ruarri Thomson (Air Canada), to establish a scholarship in Christina’s name to benefit women aviators in Canada. To that end, Tim, Rod, Louis-Éric, and Ruarri have set up a personal GoFundMe page to accept donations from everyone interested in contributing towards a future scholarship for women aviators in Canada that bears Christina’s name. All donations received will be deposited into a new joint bank account created for this purpose, on which Tim, Rod, Louis-Éric, and Raurri will all be signatories, and will be used to create and fund the scholarship (including covering any associated administrative and legal expenses that may be incurred). Any withdrawals or transfers will require the signatures of at least two signatories, one which will be Christina’s brother, Ruarri.
This personal fundraising effort to establish and fund a scholarship in Christina’s name is hosted by Tim, Rod, Louis-Éric, and Ruarri as individuals who knew and loved Christina. It is not sponsored by or affiliated with ALPA, and ALPA is not responsible for any funds collected.
