1000 displaced school aged children in Greece

Donation protected
Help us provide education and psychosocial support for the youngest displaced refugee children on Samos, Greece.

While grassroots NGO's are on the ground in Samos providing warm meals and safe spaces, there is still an unmet need for an estimated 1,000 children between ages 5-12. They have no access to the Greek education system, and no access to mental health support. At an alarmingly high rate, young children are reportedly demonstrating suicidal ideation and dangerous thoughts throughout the island refugee camps in Greece.

The latest reports stated that the refugee camp in Samos has now reached 12 times its capacity.  The influx of refugee arrivals is not slowing down, yet the European Union has not responded and fails to provide appropriate shelter, to make space for refugee children in schools, or to provide mental health services to this incredibly vulnerable population.

We must not turn a blind eye and let this continue.

We are a multinational group of educators, global health program specialists, and child life specialists whom after working alongside these NGO's in Samos, decided that we can partner together and use our professional skills to spearhead this project. Our aim is to use our experience working in the refugee camp setting, and our extensive education and training to open a primary school for refugee children ages 5-12. With a curriculum that is not only culturally relevant, but is also deeply rooted in providing psychosocial care and the opportunity for therapeutic activities for these children who have experienced the trauma of war, displacement, and chronic scarcity.

With support from several on the ground NGO's, we are charged with fundraising seed money to start this project. Would you partner with us through a meaningful donation, and sharing our information? We are passionate about quickly responding to this need, by quickly getting on the ground, and are looking to partner with organizations and individuals with the same goals.

It would mean the world to us to send a message of love for humanity over politics or self interest this holiday season. Join us!
