Project HEART

Hi! My name is Devon, and I am a student at Miramonte High School. The restaurants in Orinda make up the heart of our community. From friends and family gathering together to eat delicious food to a busy couple ordering takeout, restaurants are always there to support us. However, right now, our restaurants are going through hard times. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, restaurants have to close shop or resort to only takeout orders. Business is not the same anymore.

That's why I created Project HEART. The acronym stands for Help the Environment and Assist Restaurant Takeout. When once restaurants supported us, it's time for us to support them. My mission is to assist restaurants by promoting takeout and raising funds through a GoFundMe to purchase with environmentally sustainable takeout materials. My goal is for restaurants to stay in business and prosper regardless of the pandemic. At the same time, environmental sustainability is equally important, and I want to ensure that all takeout materials purchased are biodegradable or compostable.


Since restaurants only can conduct takeout orders, the money in this fundraiser will go to buying the supplies they need for day-to-day orders. These supplies are simple things like takeout boxes, bags, utensils, napkins, cups, straws, et cetera. These supplies are 100% biodegradable instead of styrofoam or single-use plastic. In this way, restaurants don't need to spend money to buy supplies or worry about their ecological impact. By supporting this campaign, you will help give restaurants the supplies they need and promote environmental sustainability!
