Doug Curry's Family Fund
Spende geschützt
The plan is simply to help raise money for this very international family so they can attend the funeral and to ensure that Maggie, Doug's wife, is provided for as she now becomes the sole breadwinner. She is a counselor and for now, is taking time off work due to the loss. We would also like to provide for her to be able to take a more-than-holiday, a pilgrimage to enable her to continue with this shattering new chapter in her life.
The long term need is to create a substantial fund for her. That is where we dare to believe the world-wide friendships they have made and the many lives they have influenced for good and for the Lord Jesus, come into their own. All funds raised will go directly to Maggie to use as she and her children need.
Giving anonymously
If you would prefer to give anonymously simply tick the box that says. "Hide name and comment from everyone but the organizer and team". That way your identity will be kept confidential from all the Curry family, including RJ Macaulay, who originally set up this campaign.
Who is running this campaign
This campaign was originally set up by RJ Macaulay (Maggie Curry's brother), and is now being managed by trusted friends Pascal Hughes, Dave Harvey, and Nick D'Aguiar.
How the funds will be spent
A proportion of the funds will be used to reimburse family members for the funeral costs, including flights for family members who had to come from abroad. The remainder will be used by Maggie Curry for her living expenses, so as to free her from the need to work whilst she comes to terms with the loss; and also possibly to enable her to take a "more-than-holiday" or pilgrimage.
How the funds will be provided to the beneficiaries
The entire funds raised will be transferred to Maggie Curry's bank account, via the bank account of the campaign Organiser (David Harvey). The reason for making the transfer via David Harvey is that transfering funds direct from GoFundMe to Maggie Curry's bank account would involve revealing the names of donors who prefer to remain anonymous, and whose anonymity the Curry family wish to respect.
Once the funds are in Maggie Curry's bank account, reimbursements will be made by Maggie to other family members for funeral costs including flights. The remainder of the funds will be for Maggie's living expenses and/or pilgrimmage.
Here is what happened in the words of Doug's children:
Dear Family and Friends,
Here is just a brief overview of the events of the last few days. We thought you might find it helpful to know what happened.
Dad and mum were camping in Cornwall on the South West Point of England. The two of them walked and spent time at the beach that Maggie and her family have gone to since she was a young girl. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary on the 14th of July. On the 16th they set up against the cliff that we children remember from our childhood holidays. Dad tried to string his hammock on the rocks close by but hadn’t had any luck, so went to try at another spot. He went to adjust his hammock and a large rock fell and took his life. A lifeguard was nearby and was with Dad in under a minute; he found that Dad had already died. Thankfully, family and friends were able to join mum within three hours. All his children were there within 24 hours from around the world. We are thankful to have such a beautiful place to remember him.
With love,
The Curry family
