Elaine Haberland's Medical and Housing Expenses

This fundraiser is for Elaine & Steve Haberland, whom have been Wapiti Valley residents for 13 years. Elaine, is a breast cancer survivor, who had Stage 3 cancer with a bilateral mastectomy, 1 year of chemo, and 7 weeks of radiation. She was officially cancer free for 5 years and 3 months, when unfortunately, she was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 brain cancer, which is inoperable. Even with the radiation and chemo she will be receiving, she has been told the best prognosis is 9-18 months. Elaine is a retired Special Education Teacher and has touched the lives of many children and their families in her career. She also is also a talented photographer who has captured many beautiful photographic images, which have been purchased to decorate homes around the world. Steve not only has been a volunteer for Park County Search & Rescue for 9 years, but he has also been a volunteer for the Wapiti Valley Fire Department for 6 years. He has touched and saved many lives in our area with his commitment to these 2 departments. This couple is in the process of finishing and moving into their dream home and are hoping to be moved in by the end of this month. They were doing a lot of the interior work of their new home themselves, which unfortunately they don't have the means of doing now since Elaine's brain cancer diagnosis. Because of this, there will be a  few other household expenses incurred in order to finish their new home that this page will cover along with incurred medical expenses. It is my hope that with your donations, Elaine & Steve will be able to hire contractors to finish the work they were going to complete themselves, which will allow this fine couple the peace of mind they need while spending their remaining time together doing quality things they enjoy, while living peacefully, and and being surrounded by family in the space they were creating.
