Empower Asian Youth: Support DAYSF's Civic Engagement Event

In the 2024 elections, a projected 15 million Asian Americans were eligible to vote, making up 5-6% of the U.S. registered voters, according to MyAsianVoice and Paws Reserach projections. 28% of AANHPI voters aged 18-29 were first-time voters, highlighting the growing impact of young Asian voices in shaping our nation’s future.

Dear Asian Youth San Francisco (DAYSF) is a chapter of Dear Asian Youth, a global nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting and empowering the Asian community. Through education and advocacy, we aim to raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by Asian communities, promote Asian cultures, and inspire young people to become changemakers for their future.

Founded during the 2019 pandemic, a group of high school youth in San Francisco emerged in response to a disturbing rise in anti-Asian hate crimes. Our founders recognized the vulnerability of AAPI communities, who have long been subjected to violence and discrimination, yet are often overlooked in broader discussions of racial injustice. Here at DAYSF, we strive to address these issues, especially to youth to encourage them to challenge injustice and amplify their voices.

Our previous projects include creating and distributing HoliDAYSF care packages to the Wah Mei school, tabling at the Sunset Night Markets, engaging with families at Great Highway Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, and hosting legislative advocacy events to advocate for youth rights.

This year, we are excited to continue expanding our work, including hosting our signature event, DAY Day (Dear Asian Youth Day). Our annual 2-day national legislative lobbying event covers workshops on interpreting legislation, meeting with district supervisors, and featuring guest speakers, all aimed to promote civic engagement in our communities.
