Dad of 3 Recovering from Emergency Brain Surgeries

Donation protected
Jesse, a loving husband and father of three young boys (ages 3, 6 & 8) unexpectedly underwent back-to-back emergency brain surgeries on January 18 & 19, 2020. On the morning of January 18, Jesse was found unresponsive by his wife Felicia who called emergency services to rush him to the hospital. There, they discovered his brain was swollen and spinal fluid filled within his head, pushing into his spinal cord (hydrocephalus).

During the first surgery, tubes were inserted to release the fluid. He was then transported to the Mayo clinic in Jacksonville, FL, to undergo another brain surgery to remove a cyst that was pressing on his 2nd and 3rd ventricle of his brain. The cyst was successfully removed, but recovery will be a long road. Due to the location of the cyst and the hydrocephalus, his memory has been impacted. The year ahead includes intense memory recovery as well as physical therapy.

Jesse was close to completing construction of his families new home when he was found unresponsive and rushed to the hospital. Jesse was the only source of income for their family, but he will be unable to work for an undetermined amount of time. For many years, Jesse and Felicia poured their leadership, efforts and love into standing up, growing and managing Panhead's Pizzeria in New Smyrna Beach, FL, before recently choosing to turn over full ownership to Felicia's brother. Jesse was transitioning into full-time construction work, which would allow them to live out their dreams to travel and adventure as a family.

Felicia will have to be an around-the-clock caregiver at her husband's side as she helps him to regain and reconstruct his memory, assist in his therapy and medical rehab, as well as keeping their son's active lives and schedules as normal as possible. Some family and friends are local to them, while many are traveling in from all over the nation to help with family needs and to assist with completing construction of their new home.

Jesse's emergency surgeries came during a very difficult year for his family, as they are still working to find their 'normal' after the traumatic loss of their beloved Grandma Mabel and Felicia's father, CMSGT John Ross (USAF) within 2 consecutive days in March 2019.

Jesse is a hard worker who is fun-loving and adventurous. His love for and dedication to his family has always been first and foremost.  Though Jesse or Felicia would never ask for a penny from anyone, their friends and family want to help alleviate some financial stress during these difficult times by sharing their story and relying on a vast network of helpers.

Your donation will be used to help with medical bills from surgeries and recovery, and to allow the family to have some additional financial support while Jesse is unemployed and Felicia cares for him and their sons. Donations will transfer directly to an account owned by Felicia and Jesse and we are eternally grateful to anyone who can help them through the days and years ahead.

This fundraiser was set up by friends of the family and is owned by Felicia.
