Erie Lackawanna Bay Window Caboose
Tax deductible
Last year CSX donated this Caboose to Youngstown Steel Heritage and in the ensuing year I've been trying everything I can to scrape up some money to move this Caboose to Youngstown. So many other projects have been getting in the way that I have not been able to do that and we're coming down to the point where I either need to get this car moved or CSX is going to take it back and have it scrapped. So I'm calling out to all of our supporters and railfan friends to see if we can't raise the money to move the Caboose.
I already have a trucking company lined up that for $6,500 they will roll the Caboose onto a trailer, haul it to Youngstown and then roll it back off. It's a rather straightforward move and I think we could have it back in its home territory rather quickly assuming I have the money to pay the bill.
It is interesting to note that the reason we were offered this Caboose is because we started the project to preserve the Erie Lackawanna 3639. However the needs of raising the money to move that locomotive meant that we don't have much extra for another big project such as this. It would be great to see both the 3639 and the c335 back together again painted in maroon and gray and I think that with all of your help we can make that happen.
