Flip Side Watersports Tornado Recovery
Donation protected
As much as it pains us to start this campaign, we're beginning to accept that sometimes you have to put your pride aside and be willing to receive help from others.
Flip Side Watersports is a small, seasonal outdoors business inside Oak Mountain State Park in Birmingham, AL. We were only one week into our new season when we took a direct hit from an EF3 tornado on 3/25/2021. We've learned from our insurance company that none of the damage that we sustained is covered by our policy. All of our profits from the previous season were used during the off-season for repairs to our facilities and to expand our vessel fleet, which was entirely destroyed.
We're looking at 1-2 months of cleanup and rebuilding before we can reopen. Although the state park will be making necessary repairs to our pro shop and pavilions, we're responsible for all other equipment repairs and replacement. We need help raising funds to replace: 2 prefabricated buildings that house our electronic equipment for our cable system and our aqua park life vests and equipment; our entire vessel fleet (stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes) and their storage racks; and our equipment trailer. Repairs also need to be made to the cable for our standard cable course and all the features on both courses.
All donations are truly appreciated and no amount is too small! Any funds exceeding our donation goal that aren't used will be donated at the end of our annual charity event in October.
Thank you for your support and God bless.
