Riley Scharper

On January 13, 2023, God gained a new angel. Riley Scharper was an amazing father, a loving husband, and a pillar of the community. His infectious smile brightened any room that he walked into. Riley always made you feel like what you were saying was important; he listened, he made you laugh, and he was just so genuine. The world needs more people like him. After spending less than five minutes with Riley and Katlyn, it was evident how strong their love was for each other. Riley and Katlyn’s support for each other was unmatched. Riley even ran a marathon (yes 26.2 miles) without training so Katlyn did not have to run it alone. He was always there for her. Riley always wanted to become a father. His love for children was apparent with the traditions he and Katlyn created with their neighborhood kids. His dream came to fruition when Baby Khloe was born on March 3, 2022. Though he only had 10 short months with her, his love and impact will be with her always; her own Guardian Angel. Riley was a Nurse Practitioner at the Iowa Clinic. Prior to joining the Iowa Clinic, he was a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room at Methodist Hospital Downtown Des Moines. His compassion for those around him helped him touch the lives of many people in our community. Riley was also an active member of the Restoration Church in Adel. The Scharpers are very involved in their church. Riley was a member of the choir and helped plan, along with Katlyn, children's events including this past year’s Christmas performance. We know that because of Riley’s fierce love for his Lord and Savior, he is rejoicing in Paradise with Jesus.

This love and support means so much to Katlyn and Khloe. Liz Mount will transfer the money already raised, along with any donations from this GoFundMe, to help fund Khloe’s college dreams.

Another way to show support is by helping us keep his memory alive. We have set up an email address for friends and families to email memories, pictures, videos, and anything else they want to say. Katlyn and Khloe can then sit down and remember Riley together along with all those who loved him. Katlyn plans to use these along with letters written to Khloe to create a book to share with their daughter one day. Please send your stories to the email found in Riley's obituary.
