Fund Blankets for Kids in Need
Donation protected
The "Sequim Serger Squad" came together this past summer as a means to sew blankets for kids, both those in our own community and others around the globe experiencing difficult times. We gather together with our sergers (a special kind of sewing machine on steroids!) monthly at Dungeness Valley Lutheran Church in Sequim to crank out blankets to meet the continually escalating need we keep hearing about. In July, we made 53 blankets for preschoolers in Forks who had none for their daily naptime, and last month we finished 50 flannel receiving blankets for shipment to Honduras, where newborns are wrapped in newspaper for lack of anything else.
But we're sewing so quickly we've run out of fabric from our initial donations and need money to restock our fabric supply! We have a team of cutters who work with the bolts of fabric to prep it for the sewers, so every cent we earn will be used to buy new but clearance-priced flannel or polar fleece at deep discounts. Your donations will help us supply the requests coming from the Kentucky floods, the Puerto Rican hurricane and future needs both on the Peninsula and the world at large!
