WHAT IS THE “SPREAD HOPE VT” PROJECT AND HOW CAN YOU HELP?

In these times, who couldn’t use a little more HOPE? Do you want to bring HOPE to your own community? Art for the people, by the people! I want to create a community art piece that travels to towns throughout Vermont so everyone can be inspired by the notion of HOPE–in this case, a freestanding sculpture of wooden letters that spell out the word.

For those not familiar with my work, my name is Chris Cleary and I am a full time sculptor. As such, I create large-scale wooden sculptures and currently have multiple words on display throughout Vermont (LOVE, JOY, BE KIND, to name a few).

I’ve already started this SPREAD HOPE VT project by building the letter “H” and just completed the letter “P”. I’m now looking to the community to crowdfund the remaining materials & trucking expenses to get this work of art complete & on the road to be seen by the masses.

Experience & Design: HOPE will measure 7’ tall by 25’ long & will require a truck to transport. The idea is that each stop will host HOPE for 1-2 weeks. This interactive art will be placed at highly visible spaces such as libraries, schools, and other well traveled areas so anyone can snap a photo.

Finding Hope: I will post here on the GoFundMe site as to where HOPE moves, including location address. I will also post location info on the @SpreadHopeVT Instagram page.

Funding Hope: Each letter costs $700-900 in raw materials such as nails, screws, lumber & saw blades. There will be trucking expenses to transport the letters, requiring a flatbed truck with a forklift. The target goal is $6000. How wonderful would it be to see photos of HOPE in the wild and know that you made it possible?
