G Man's Cancer Treatment

In the summer of 2023 Graeme (G Man) was diagnosed with a glioblastoma (GBM) - an aggressive form of brain cancer. Doctors told us that the cancer was terminal and that he had months to live. The diagnosis was a complete shock to Graeme, Tamara and their young family and for a short time completely shattered their lives, their hopes and their future. Even though survival rate is only 6.9%, true to form, Graeme set out to beat the cancer in his own indomitable style, with his sense of humour, sense of joy and love for life!

He has had radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and even a new trial, electrical treatment, but the cancer continued to grow. The NHS were reluctant to operate and had a very dim outlook for Graeme. GBM is one of the most difficult and expensive cancers to treat, but refusing to be beaten, he and his amazing wife managed to find a surgeon willing to operate and recently, he underwent open brain surgery when 90% of the tumour was removed. But this was only a short respite…

Unfortunately, the cancer still grows and whilst he will continue with chemotherapy and radiotherapy, the outcome is inevitable… ultimately, he will not live to see his three lovely boys grow up. But there is still a glimmer of hope… and if there is no hope, what else is there?

There is a ground-breaking treatment available in Germany that uses (in very simple terms) the body’s own immune system fight the cancer. However it costs in excess of £100,000 – anything you are able to donate will make a difference and give us all hope that he will live long enough to see his boys grow up.
