Get 4 historic Church tower bells ringing again

Hello to you all reading our request for help.

I am Claire in Biddisham Somerset.

Our local community of Bellringers from Axbridge and its surrounding villages can no longer ring St John’s bells in Biddisham.

We have a set of 4 unique bells of great historical significance in the tower.

All 4 were made by Richard Purdue in the 1600’s. He is a famous bell maker who made single bells that can be found in important places like Westminster Abbey. The bells are on a 17th century oak frame.

The frame needs repair as it has moved to hit the side of the tower and the bells that are still in perfect condition rehung.

Please help us raise the money so local people can enjoy ringing them again and the village enjoy their beautiful sound again.

PS the bell tower is a little quirky - very straight at the top from a wonderful Victorian make over in the 1860’s - worth a visit!
