#GiveLight to Low-Income Families in AS
Donation protected
The Rotaract Club of Pago Pago, The Foeletini Foundation, Esther Generation, and the Agency for Better Living Endeavors (ABLE) are combining efforts for the #GiveLight Initiative. This project raises funds to purchase and distribute ASPA $50 Cash Power vouchers for those most affected financially by Code Red.
Background:
- In mid-February, the first-ever community spread cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in American Samoa. On Feb. 22nd, 2022, American Samoa Governor Lemanu activated “Code Red”.
- Code Red is the highest level in American Samoa’s Covid Threat-Level System.
- Code Red enforces mandates which limit physical contact within the community to help control the spread of Covid-19.
- Those mandates include: limiting business hours for essential businesses only and the closure of all non-essential businesses.
- It is unknown how long Code Red will be in effect or when businesses will be able to reopen. Meanwhile, most employees of non-essential businesses have been left without work or income for nearly 3 weeks and counting.
- Immediate financial assistance is urgently needed for these individuals and families affected.
Please help provide power and #GiveLight to the homes of the families most affected by Code Red! 100% of funds will be used to purchase $50 ASPA Cash Power vouchers. Vouchers will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis for those who qualify.
