I think many of you know that for a very long time the residents of Greene County have longed for a range. Many more of you may have seen the recent post by Sheriff Smith discussing the need for a range where the Deputies can train and qualify as well as let citizens get training. "The Greene County Sheriff's Office has been in desperate need of a firing range. The sheriff's office has been without a range for quite some time now...This range will also serve as a training facility for deputies to train citizens on firearm safety and help them in getting their conceal weapon permit. With the current economic situation, it does not appear that the county will be in any position to provide funding. I am reaching out to the public and asking for your help...Any and all donations are tax deductible. Thank you"
That conversation has evolved into a full-fledged effort to make this long standing dream a reality for the citizens of Greene County. As a licensed REALTOR, NRA Certified Instructor, and military veteran with significant experience in range operations, I have volunteered to assist the Sheriff in finding the right property in order to make this happen. As you can imagine, finding the right land or infrastructure, in the right area, with the right topography, to include the needed safety buffers, then turning that land or property into a fully functioning range is not a quick, easy, or cheap undertaking. We NEED your help!
