Support youth engagement for the upcoming biodiversity COP17 in Yerevan. At the COP, government and policy makers will come together to decide about our future - and we youth want to be part of it.
We're GYBN Europe, the European chapter of the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) - the official coordination platform for youth to the Convention on Biological Diversity! In short, we're a group of passionate youth working together to lead, support, and accelerate collective action for a just and equitable world that lives in harmony with nature.
On the way to COP17, we are planning quite some activities and would appreciate your financial support for them:
- End of April: An in-person training for 30+ youth across Europe, to deepen their knowledge about the Convention on Biological Diversity, how they can get active already now and create impact
- Youth are Implementers: Until COP17, we want to collect projects and activities from youth and showcase them to others. We want to show: Youth are implementers! Young people across Europe are a crucial component to conserve and protect biodiversity.
- Capacity-building: A series of webinars from general learning about biodiversity, policy, the biodiversity Convention to very specific topics like concrete biodiversity targets. We started already and of course won’t stop in organizing them!
- Bringing people to COP17! Ideally even without taking the plane. This requires money and information. With your money we can subsidize the buses and trains and food people need during the journey and the stay in Yerevan. From our side, we will prepare a whole guide informing about the route, finding contacts, organizing meetings and bringing people together.

Where is your money going?
While a big chunk of the projects above will be done by us as volunteers directly, there are a few activities where money is really needed to make it happen. Therefore, your money goes into:
- Supporting 30+ youth to gather to prepare for biodiversity action on the ground towards COP17. We found a very cost-efficient accommodation for the in-person training, but any financial support helps to offset food and travel costs for the participants. This kind of training should not be available only for those that can afford it - but for anyone conserving and protecting nature!
- Supporting European youth to go to Yerevan this October to strengthen the voice of youth on the ground. GYBN overall is in touch with governments, larger NGOs and UN entities trying to raise funds to fund participation - but usually European youth, in particular East European fell through the grid: There are no Youth delegates send by their governments nor is funding East Europeans considered Official Development Assistance. The more we can fundraise, the more people we can support to join us in Yerevan!
There's no minimum or maximum in what you can give! Every euro will greatly contribute to give youth an opportunity to raise our voices, protect and conserve biodiversity!
