Harold’s Sunday tragedy!
Harold “JR” Ewing was following behind me on the intercoastal waterway and we all slowed for a huge wake. The boat behind made a poor decision not to slow, and instead ran directly over the top of JR and his family on their 16 ft Scout.
JR sustained brain hemorrhage, multiple skull and back fractures, and his arm and shoulder were broke in 8 places. He completely lost vision in his left eye, and hearing in his left ear.
After transfusions and multiple bags of platelets and 9 hours of surgery they were able to cut his skull to relieve pressure, and inserted a titanium plate.
Evelyn saw the boat at the last second, screamed as her mom covered her and protected her. Mary Jane reached up and touched the hull of the twin engin boat that landed on top of them.
This man runs the family business, and hiked the first half of the Grand Canyon in 2017.
The prayers are working!! On top of that we need to help them through recovery which is bound to take years. Our goal is to get him back for the last leg of his GC trip and the obvious, swinging a hammer.!! It is a miracle he is alive! Now his friends can make miracles to keep his life moving away from this tragedy. It is still surreal to think about!
