Help Ramah ceramic artist who lost everything
Donation protected
Ramah Commanday has been working with clay for 50 years. She lost her ceramic studio in the Glass Fire in Deer Park, California. She evacuated in the early hours of September 27 just in time to save herself. Ramah has lived on Crystal Springs Road for 16 years, where she worked as the psychologist for the St.Helena public schools. She was in transition to relocate to the Hudson Valley in NY at the beginning of this year but had to delay the move due to COVID. She had to evacuate her house in August due to the LNU Complex Fire which did not reach her house. But this time she lost her home, clay studio barn and gallery where she showed her works during open studio.
I wood fired with Ramah at Nick Schwartz's anagama and at Scott Parady's anagama .
She is a hard worker, kind, wise, good cook and her work is inspiring. My intention here is to raise funds for Ramah to set up a new ceramic studio when she moves to upstate New You in several months so that she can continue making her work. That's what she does that's who she is. She was planning to move entire household including her kilns, wheel, tools and important materials but they are mostly gone. In New York she will have to build a studio all over again. Her insurance coverage is too limited to cover that.
I hope we can help Ramah a little bit here as collective makers and ceramic friends for this wonderful artist and lovely person.
