Help Dirk, he's lost his home
Donation protected
Hello,
Dirk recently lost his van (which is his home), and he is homeless. His van is a write-off. Many local residents might know him, he's a keen fisherman around Newport, Williamstown, and Altona Areas.
He was parked in the public car park, near the Newport Athletics Track, just next to the power station, end of the Strand, near Warmies. The tree was fully infested by termites. By law, the council needs to inspect all trees once a year, and based on the infestation, this tree would have had termites for many years.
Thankfully Dirk was not hurt physically (mentally I cannot say what he's going through). This car park is always busy with anglers, the elderly, and families with kids, so it's sheer luck no person was injured. Dirk has no insurance (cannot afford it) and nowhere to go. He is now stuck in the same place until he can afford another vehicle and get moving.
The SES, Police, Fire Brigade, and Council Officials, came to his rescue and the SES patched his vehicle, so he can continue to sleep in it. He now has to walk 1km to go to the toilet, cannot have a shower, cannot go and buy food, etc. Thankfully some amazing people come by and drop him food, water, etc.
Please help with what you can, he's a bloody good fisherman, he won't be able to pay you back in cash, but am sure he'll pay you back one day with some fresh fish.
