Help for 7 year old Esmai During This Devastating time

Our dear friend , Sophie, has just received the most heartbreaking news a mother could ever imagine.

Sophie’s 7-year-old daughter, Esmai, was recently sent to the hospital after a visit to the optician for a visual problem.

Unfortunately, the MRI of Esmais Brain brought news worse than anyone could have expected.

Doctors confirmed that Esmai had a large and aggressive brain tumor.

Esmai was transferred to Alder Hay Children’s hospital where she endured 7 hour brain surgery.

The surgeons and staff were amazing and we are relieved to say that the operation went well.

However the tumour was confirmed to be cancerous and aggressive, and after a long two week wait the results revealed that the tumour was an ependymoma tumour .

Esmai is now embarking on a challenging journey that includes 7 weeks of radiotherapy at the Proton Beam Therapy Center in Manchester, with a total of 33 treatments.

Esmai will be spending her 8th birthday away from home and likely to be receiving radiotherapy on her special day.

Sophie and her two children have temporarily relocated to an apartment provided by the hospital in Manchester city center. However, Sophie still needs to cover the rent for their home back in Stoke. Additionally, being with her daughters every day in Manchester means Sophie is unable to continue working as the mobile hairdresser as she previously did before this awful news .

To make matters even more difficult, Sophie’s car has broken down multiple times and is extremely unreliable. This means that every day, whilst in Manchester, she has to travel with Esmai and her 2-year-old daughter, Grace, 30 minutes on the hospital bus for these vital hospital appointments, which is more exhausting for all of them.

The future is uncertain at the moment, so we’re asking for your support during this incredibly difficult time. While we know that money can't fix everything, it can help cover the financial strain of being away from home while Esmai undergoes treatment. It could also help with getting Sophie and her daughters to and from the hospital more easily, relieving some of the daily stress.
