Help Kamela Recover

Donation protected
On the Morning of August 3rd, 2020, just minutes away from her family home in Jefferson County, 19-year old Kamela Lyles was involved in a crash with a semi-truck (eighteen wheeler) on a two-lane road which involved her being ran off the road and spinning several times, enduring without air bags deployed.

First responders immediately transported her from the scene to Winchester Medical Center (VA) for injuries sustained to the neck and head upon impact, a concussion following a blow to the back of the head, as well as bruising along the body. She lost her car, which was her only form of transportation to work and school. Many of you in the DC, MD, VA area know Kamela as a dear friend, sister, teammate, activist, and avid member of the community. Her outgoing personality and bright smile made her friendships anywhere she'd go.

Kamela was a varsity athlete for Track & Field, offering her time as an assistant coach to the youth for her Travel Team in Ashburn, VA; You could find her participating in Student Organizations at George Mason University and NOVA CC; being a super big-sister to her younger sibling;  dancing to the Go-Go bands in the streets of DC, happily serving her community in the fight for racial equality, she always kept a positive attitude and has shown great resilience despite working day and night to make ends meet facing an under resourced abusive environment.

Unfortunately, she lost her job in the wake of the COVID-19 Pandemic and is apart of the millions of Americans looking for work, still waiting for their unemployment benefits which leaves her in a compromised financial position.

She's been doing much better with time, but there is still pending litigation that has stretched into the New Year and we want to make sure she is fully prepared to defend herself and heal as she prepares to go back to school and get back to her regular life.

The money is essential to replace the car and insurance, medical expenses, stable housing, therapy, and lawyer/litigation expenses and fees. All funds will be distributed directly to her. This is an opportunity to bring justice to a young, promising college student who is in need of support for her long term rehabilitation. Protect Black Women! Protect this one! who fights so hard for others, so many bearing the brunt of America's deeply rooted injustices towards the black community.

No amount is too small.

With hardship comes ease, please keep her in your prayers as God covers her mind, body, and spirit to a FULL recovery, God willing. Friends and family are so grateful she is alive, EMT's were surprised at her miraculous survival from what could've ended disastrously fatal. 2020 has left nothing unscathed, she credits God's Love and Mercy as the reason she survived, reflecting her strength in a heart filled with faith and a smile that shines bright no matter the obstacle put in her path.
