We need your help to keep your news local, trustworthy, and accurate – that means free of artificial intelligence.
The news workers of the Skagit Valley Herald, Anacortes American, and Stanwood Camano News have voted unanimously to strike against the newspapers' management.
The newspapers' owner, Adams MultiMedia, has stated that it wants "no limitation on the use of Artificial Intelligence." This includes the generation of news content.
In nine months of contract bargaining, Adams MultiMedia has denied its journalists any protections from AI at these newspapers.
We're also bargaining for annual wage increases to keep up with rising costs of living.
Without steady wage increases, the journalists that are dedicated to reporting on your community will be priced out.
Please consider supporting us during our strike. Your donations help us to pay our bills while we fight to keep your news free of artificial intelligence.
Thank you for helping to ensure that this community's news continues to be reported by real humans living in your community.
