We are the Old Dominion Rocketry Club (ODRC), and we need your help to make history! Founded just over a year ago, our club has already achieved something extraordinary: we’ve been officially accepted to compete in the 2025 Spaceport America Cup, the world’s largest intercollegiate rocketry competition. This marks the first time Old Dominion University will be represented on the international stage by a rocketry club, and it’s a milestone we are incredibly proud to share.
Our mission goes far beyond building rockets. We are revolutionizing aerospace and rocketry projects on campus, creating opportunities for students to grow as engineers, scientists, and leaders. In the past year alone, ODRC has seen incredible success. After our last rocket launch, more than 10 students achieved their Level 1 High Power Rocketry (HPR) certifications through the National Association of Rocketry, an achievement that is helping them develop professionally and stand out in the aerospace industry. Our members have already landed prestigious internships at organizations like NASA Langley Research Center, NAVSEA, and others—testaments to the hands-on skills and knowledge gained through this club.
Competing in the Spaceport America Cup is a major milestone for us and ODU. It’s not just about the competition; it’s about inspiring a new era of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in rocketry and aerospace engineering at our university. But we can’t do it alone. Your support will help us cover the costs of materials, testing, travel, and competition fees, ensuring that we can make ODU proud and continue to empower the next generation of aerospace professionals.
