Hi friends!
My name is Lauren Price and I’m a 69-year-old wife, mom, grandma, and lifelong lover of children, crafts, and storytelling. I’ve always believed God put me on this earth to help others — whether that was teaching Sunday school since I was 13, working with foster and adoptive kids, or just lending a listening ear to a neighbor in need.
But now I find myself in a season where I’m the one who needs help.
My Journey So Far
I’ve been married to the love of my life, Wes, since I was 19. We have two children and four beautiful granddaughters. Wes is my rock, my hero, and has stood by me through every twist and turn — especially this latest one.
About a year ago, after a long string of infections and doctor visits, I was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). It was a shock, but it also helped explain what my body had been going through. Since then, I’ve been treated at both my local hospital and at Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, which is 4½ hours away. I’ve undergone multiple rounds of chemotherapy, lung treatments, blood and platelet transfusions, and bone marrow biopsies.
Despite everything, I’m still smiling (most days!). I’m currently waiting on results from my latest treatment — three chemo drugs at once — to see if we’ve finally beaten a stubborn gene mutation called TP53. Once that’s gone, I’ll move on to the hardest but most hopeful step: a stem cell transplant.
How Life Has Changed
Physically, I’m so weak and tired. Minor cuts or bruises heal slowly. Emotionally, it’s been tough not being able to do the things I love! And financially — well, that’s been just awful.
Before leukemia, Wes and I were debt-free. Now, between travel, hospital stays, and treatments, we’ve accumulated thousands in medical bills. The cancer centers have been wonderful — offering some free lodging, resources, and small stipends for gas and nutrition — but it’s still not enough to keep up with the mounting costs of treatment and travel.
Why I’m Asking for Help
This GoFundMe has been created by my family to help cover:
- Medical bills and ongoing treatment expenses
- Travel costs (my treatment center is over four hours away)
- Basic living expenses during recovery
Any donations will be personal gifts made out of kindness to help me with medical and travel expenses. No goods or services are being provided in return, and all funds will go directly toward these personal costs. This makes them non-taxable gifts under IRS rules — they’re simply acts of generosity that will help me keep fighting.
What Keeps Me Going
Through every setback, I’ve leaned on God, my family, and my friends.
Thanks to loving neighbors who took me to church when I was 6 years old, I learned, and understood who Jesus is and why it matters. I have been telling others all about Him ever since!
One of the most profound aspects of being a Christian is that I have faith and hope. Faith that no matter what happens in my life, my hope is not wasted - Jesus is my eternal hope. My faith in Him who sustains me is my steadfast hope of eternity with Jesus
When I’m strong enough, I plan to give back by volunteering at the cancer centers that have cared for me, encouraging others who are walking this same path. My heart’s desire is to remind them that they are not alone and that faith, hope, and community make all the difference.
A Note from Me to You
To everyone reading this — thank you. Whether you can donate, share my story, or simply send up a prayer, I am deeply grateful. Every bit of support helps us breathe a little easier and keeps our hope alive. I’ve always believed God sends us exactly the people we need at just the right time.
My favorite song right now: Chris Tomlin, Good, Good Father
You are perfect in all of Your ways…
Oh, it's love so undeniable
I can hardly speak
Peace so unexplainable
I can hardly think…
As You call me deeper still into love…
You're a good, good Father
It's who You are…
And I'm loved by You
My favorite verse: Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Thank you for being part of our journey, for your love, and for helping us continue the fight.
With gratitude and hope,
Laurie and Wes
