Help my sister get her voice back
Donation protected
My sister Cassie, a mum of 2 lost her voice on the 19th of January 2024, it has been 6 months of trying different suggestions, tests and meetings with specialists to try and figure out what is going on and so far nothing has worked and no answers have been found. The Orcadian contacted Cassie and published an article in the paper to raise awareness for her situation and we are truly grateful they did, Cassie has been contacted by many people offering help and suggestions. A vocal coach in London gave exercises and stretches to try relieve any muscle tension in her throat muscles as they believed it to be muscle tension dysphonia. So far none of this has worked. The vocal coach found a laryngeal manipulation specialist clinic in Glasgow which my sister paid for and attended an appointment with at the weekend, They found her throat to be inflamed and her thyroid swollen but didn’t feel this was muscle related. They believe she may have something autoimmune going on and they have suggested a 5-6 week treatment plan down in Glasgow however Cassie’s sick pay is due to be stopping soon so she doesn’t think this is an option she can afford due to travel, accommodation and treatment costs alongside her normal household bills. This has been a very tough time for my sister who has not been able to work at her NHS job since this all started and has only recently been able to do a small number of beauty treatments from home which has helped her get by while she is on half pay from work. She is struggling both mentally and physically from this whole thing and this is heavily putting pressure on and effecting her children Brooklynn (15) & Laylan (9) aswell as her Partner Thorfinn and all of their day to day lives. Cassie is an amazing kind, caring person and (normally I would add bubbly and busy in there too however this hole ordeal is slowly stealing that from her) she goes above and beyond to help everyone she can, when she can, nothing is too big or to small for her if she can she will. She worked full time for NHS and aswell as her side business of beauty treatments at home and in Solveig in her free time, not being able todo so now if heartbreaking to watch take its toll on her mental health. So now it’s our turn to help my sister for a change which is why I have set up this go fund me to try raise funds so that she CAN go away for treatment which will hopefully help her regain her voice and get back to her normal way of life. Please help is anyway you can weather it’s donating, sharing or suggestions we really appreciate everything.
