Our Story
Hi, my name is Bremen Dinh, and I am the CEO of AquaReef and the Founder of the Aquarium and Reefing Club at our local high school. We are a passionate group of high school students who have fallen in love with the beauty and complexity of reef ecosystems. Through our Aquarium and Reefing Club (ARC), we aim to bring the wonders of the ocean to our school’s library by creating thriving reef tanks. These tanks serve as educational tools, teaching our peers about marine biology and conservation, while also adding a touch of natural beauty to our school environment.
Our Mission
At AquaReef Co, our mission is to:
Educate: Our mission is to educate the younger generation about how to properly take care of marine life from helping it survive to actually thrive.
Create: We aim to build and maintain multiple beautiful, sustainable reef tanks at our school.
Inspire: We will foster a love for marine biology and conservation within our school community. More importantly, we will inspire students and teachers alike to help join in on making our dream come true.
Why We Need Your Help
Setting up and maintaining reef tanks is a costly endeavor. From purchasing tanks and equipment to sourcing live coral and fish, the expenses add up quickly. While we have managed to fundraise a portion of the necessary funds, we still need your help to reach our goal and make this project a reality. During the summer, students are not allowed in the building, which means we can't provide the care the aquarium needs. The school administration requires a certified person to help with maintenance during this time, if there is any trouble with the tanks.
My school doesn’t allow us to make a direct GoFundMe (we have to jump through a lot of hoops to do that) since it’s summer staff are not allowed to help us attend the event, so if you donate to AquaReef Co’s high school fund, 100% of the profit will be donated directly to ARC, our school's aquarium club.
How Your Donation Will Be Used
Your generous donations will go towards:
- Purchasing tanks and necessary equipment (filters, lights, heaters, etc.)
- Acquiring live coral, fish, and other marine life
- Ongoing maintenance and care for the tanks, including hiring a certified person to maintain them over the summer
- Educational materials and resources for our club and school community
Our Progress So Far
Thanks to our hard work and the support of our community, we have already set up multiple reef tanks that are thriving with beautiful ecosystems. These tanks have become a focal point in our school, sparking interest and curiosity about marine biology among students and staff alike.
