I’ve been troubling over how to write these words, how to share why I do what I do and what it means to me. I thought I should try and explain about the struggles, the losses, the challenges, the magic, the craziness, of all the things that have brought me to this point..but that would take too many pages, and I’m not a writer like that. What it comes to, and what my work is about, is life. It’s about being a fragile human, and about loving other fragile humans. It’s about finding our way. Sometimes it’s about being crazy and it’s about running out of time. It’s anyone who has ever loved and lost, anyone with regrets, with stories, with secrets, and with dreams. It’s what we think about when we open our eyes in the morning and when we close them at night. It’s the things that make us unable to speak because we aren’t sure which words to use, what brings us to our knees, what gives us hope, what makes us laugh, cry, what frightens us, what makes us curious, all of it. It’s about this entire fragile human experience, kind of all wrapped inside of these paper skins. At least that’s what I think of.

So here I am, one fragile human, met with a wonderful opportunity to debut this body of work I’ve been building for the last several years, on a shoestring, at an art gallery that I’ve fallen in love with, in Belgium. I have jumped off the limb and am planning a show for fall of 2022. Those who know me well, know that I’m a recluse, extremely obsessive, very determined, absorbed and desperately passionate in my work and will know what an exciting and giant leap this is for me, all the way around. It’s one, though, that I’ll only be able to pull off with some help.

Shipping art internationally is expensive, which feels like an enormous hurdle to me right now, and will be where a majority of the funds are spent, if this goal is met. I also have some other preparations and loose ends to manage and if all goes well, I’ll hopefully be able to afford a plane ticket too, which would just blow my mind. Any additional funds will go toward ensuring the continuation of my art and the further unfolding of my career as an artist. Thank you so much for reading. Share or donate if you feel like helping one crazy artist make real of her dreams.
