Hi, my name is Carol, I am creating this gofundme for my stepfather, Sergio, and stepbrother, Felix, who were injured in the sinkhole accident occurring on Saturday May 13, 2023, in Los Lunas NM.
Sergio and Felix were on their weekly bike ride through the bosque, when they were crossing the river bridge, Sergio disappeared from the bridge as it caved in, sending him roughly 13 feet down into the rushing water below. Losing his bike and damaging all his possession in his backpack. Felix immediately called for help from the authorities, but it would not come in time. He watched his dad, terrified, clinging to some PVC piping trying not to get washed away, as rocks and boulders fell onto his head. He yelled, "I don't want to die here son, but I love you." 3 passers-by stopped and together with Felix, they were able to pull Sergio from the water.
They both have severe PTSD from the accident, as well as a bad foot injury for Sergio. He has had to miss work for the last month and the orthopedic doctors say he needs to be off his foot for AT LEAST six more weeks.
Sergio is the main breadwinner for the family, so missing work has been extremely rough for them. Bills are stacking up, and without an income in the foreseeable future we need some help.
These funds will go to household bills, medical needs, travel expenses to and from appointments, etc.
