Save Our Lake

The Friends Of Bold Venture Park are fundraising to save our lake from disappearing. 

Bold Venture Brook cascades down from Darwen Moor via a series of waterfalls and pools bringing with it, during heavy rainfall, large amounts of silt and sediment which fill up the feeder ponds and are rapidly silting up our beautiful Lake.

We need to raise £10,000 to de-silt our four feeder ponds and help preserve the main Lake.

The ornamental lake which is the centrepiece of the park is listed in the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens (Grade II) and houses a colony of much loved ducks and other birds and wildfowl.

Bold Venture Park has been a green oasis in the heart of Darwen since 1889; we need to preserve and protect the lake for future generations of ‘Darreners’

Your kind donation will enable us to:

·       Restore the lakes and ponds to their original appearance

·       Improve the habitat for ducks and wildfowl

·       Improve holding capacity for storm water

·       Improve the pond’s water quality and wildlife potential

·       Protect local heritage for future generations
