Wir, 3 Zahnmedizinstudenten aus Heidelberg und ein bereits fertiger Zahnarzt, wollen wohnungslosen Menschen die Möglichkeit geben, ihre Mundhygiene und damit ihre Gesundheit zu verbessern.
Es wird leider viel zu oft vergessen, wie wichtig es ist, die Zähne und das Zahnfleisch gut zu pflegen…. was dazu führt, dass etwa 40% aller Menschen in Deutschland an einer Form der Parodontitis leiden...
Parodontitis ist eine bakterielle Entzündung des Zahnhalteapparates. Dabei kommt es zu Zahnfleischbluten, Knochenabbau, Zahnlockerung und zuletzt Zahnverlust.
(Wusstest Du, dass eine gute Mundhygiene sich in einem besseren Allgemeinzustand des Körpers widerspiegelt? )

Willst Du wissen, wie wichtig die Mundhygiene für unsere Gesamtgesundheit ist? Sehr wichtig! Und zudem trägt eine gute Mundhygiene mit einem riesigen Teil zur Lebensqualität bei.
Deswegen ist es uns so wichtig, dass Menschen, die keinen leichten Zugang zu guter Mundpflege oder zu einer Zahnarzt*in haben, nicht vergessen werden.
Wir wollen wohnungslosen Menschen aktiv dabei helfen, ihre Mundhygiene zu fördern.
Dafür möchten wir diesen Menschen wöchentlich kostenlose Zahnreinigungen, aktive Mundhygiene-Trainings, Beratungen, etc. anbieten und auf Bedürfnisse und Schmerzen dieser eingehen.
Viele sind leider nicht mobil und schämen sich inzwischen, um von sich aus einen Zahnarzt*in aufzusuchen, weshalb wir vor haben auf die Wohnungslosen zuzugehen und die Leistungen zu ihnen zu bringen.
Das Problem: Leider sind wir nicht ausreichend ausgestattet mit Instrumentarien und Verbrauchsmaterialien, um die Wohnungslosen kostenlos behandeln zu können. Die hohen Anschaffungskosten für benötigte Instrumentarien, Einmalprodukte, etc. können wir als Studenten mit einer Vision allein leider nicht stämmen.
Wir würden uns also sehr freuen, wenn Du einen kleinen Teil dazu beitragen würdest, diesen bedürftigen Menschen ein wenig zu helfen…

We, three dentistry students studying in Heidelberg and a board-certified dentist, want to help the homeless with their oral hygiene.
Unfortunately, we often forget how important it is to take care of our teeth and gums. This is the reason why about 40% of people in Germany have experienced gum disease (in dental terms known as periodontal disease). This disease can have a vast impact on the anatomical structures that keep the tooth in its place. For example, it can lead to bleeding gums, loss of bone, loosening and eventually to the loss of teeth.
Did you know that a good oral hygiene can positively influence your general health?
Do you want to know how important our oral hygiene is for our general health? Its very important! Not only does it have effects on our health, but a good oral hygiene can boost the quality of life.
That is why we think we should consider it even more for people that have barely access to public health institutions or the means, may it be psychologically or financially, to keep a decent oral care.
It is our goal to actively participate in helping the homeless improve their current oral hygiene. Hence, we would like to offer professional tooth cleaning (PTC), oral hygiene instructions, consultations to address their worries and pains. All of this free of cost for the most vulnerable part of our society.
Most of them do not have the means to get to their dental physician or are just ashamed of their situation. That is why we want to engage and approach them with our passion, dentistry.
Why do we need your help? We do not yet have the capacities to satisfy the oral care of the homeless free of charge. Instruments and materials being used can be very expensive, especially in dentistry. As students that are currently still studying in the clinical semesters, we can not make this vison come true without your help.
We would be very thankful for every contribution that can help those that need it the most.
