We are a group of Cal Poly Humboldt alumni that aim to share the stories of individuals struggling with homelessness in Humboldt county. In our docuseries, we show the dilemmas many homeless individuals deal with. We share their hopes and dreams and capture what it is really like to live out of your vehicle or in a tent pitched on the side of the road.
Humboldt's homelessness crisis is more than a shocking statistic. At three times the state average, homelessness in Humboldt is a heartbreaking issue that people from all backgrounds struggle with. It is something that calls upon our humanity and empathy to find better resolutions.
Far too often we divide "them" from "us". It's easy to distance yourself from a reality that's hard to see and accept. As filmmakers and storytellers, we want to challenge and reshape your perspective on this.
To tell these stories and continue to make an impact we are asking our community for your support. As students, we are not financially stable enough to provide for this film series all by ourselves. The funds raised here will go towards the cost of production, transportation, and resources for the homeless individuals that so kindly share their lives with us.
