Homeless Man living in Cave for 32 years
Donation protected
Winston Williams has been living in a cave in Nassau Valley, St. Elizabeth, (Jamaica) for the past 32 years. When I saw his story I felt sad. Mr Williams has given his permission for help to be sought on his behalf.
He has no electricity, running water, toilet facilities and he is mostly isolated though he makes every effort to walk for miles through the bushes to connect with local people.
Mr. Williams found himself homeless, facing financial hardship and lacking emotional support to resettle into the community following a period of incarceration in 1988. He felt he had no choice but to sleep rough for survival.
He has tried his utmost best to sustain himself thus far by farming and accepting any odd jobs in order to get money for food. Some of the work he would often get has since dried up with the closing of the nearby Appleton estate and he sometimes struggles to sell the little he is able to farm. He is without basic amenities and essential items.
Despite his adversities he never forgets to share the little he is able to reap so any assistance for Mr. Williams will be greatly appreciated as his situation is more dire than ever before. Let’s pull together to provide a ray of hope. Funds will go towards:
· Contribution to long-term (10-20 years) lease of land (£1,000)
· Purchase of building materials for basic but safe and secure accommodation (£2000)
· Purchase of essential household items such as bed, stove etc (£1500)
· Talking therapy sessions with a professional to help Mr. William’s adjust (£200)
Mr Williams is a very humble man. Just needs independent accommodation, basic amenities and to move a bit closer to the nearest community in a safe space to call his own.
I will be administering the funds received and will liaise with local community leaders that have proven to be trustworthy and have brought his story to light in Jamaica to ensure the money is accounted for and goes towards improving Mr William’s living condition. It will be a slow but steady process. Updates will be available through this platform as well as through YouTube channel 'Chat Jamaican with Tania'. We politely ask that you do not contact Tania directly about financial donations.
