Deeply triggered by the death of George Floyd; Which brought back feelings of low self worth and low self esteem because of the color of my skin. I was quickly reminded of the struggles I have faced growing up as a Gay Black Man in London.
Now two and a half years sober. My journey to finding self love started with the professional help I received from therapists that specialize in trauma and racial trauma.
People from Black communities can experience racism in their personal lives, ranging from casual slights to explicit hurtful comments and verbal or physical aggression; Mental health problems are rarely spoken about in Black communities and can be seen in a negative light. This can discourage people within the community from talking about their mental health and may be a barrier to engagement with health services.
Black men were reported to have the highest rates of drug use and drug dependency than other groups and suicide rates are higher among young black men. Research shows that black communities have significantly higher rates of mental health related issues and have more limited access to help then any other race!
Money donated will be deposited directly to the I AM ENOUGH FUND which will be used to pay in full for professional therapy for members of the black community that have struggled with mental health issues.
We will also be funding educational programs for the white population to learn how to overcome their racism.
