In Memory of Mum: Fighting Rabies in Cambodia
Donation protected
This year I suffered the unimaginable: losing my mum to rabies—a devastating yet entirely preventable disease. In her name, I am raising funds to volunteer with Mission Rabies in Cambodia—an award-winning charity run by Worldwide Veterinary Service that leads mass dog vaccination campaigns, rabies surveillance, and vital community education across Asia and Africa. Their goal is to vaccinate at least 70% of the dog population to achieve herd immunity and stop rabies at its source, while also educating children on how to recognise rabid animals and stay safe.
In order to do this, I need to raise money to join the campaign as a volunteer and to cover the cost of travel to Cambodia. This is something I need to do—if I can save even one life through this work, or spare one family from going through what we’ve experienced, then it will be turning a terrible negative into something positive. I’m determined to transform my grief into action—helping vaccinate dogs, support surveillance efforts, and deliver life-saving lessons in schools.
Funds raised will go toward travel, accommodation, project fees, and educational materials. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to a world without rabies—and honours my mum’s memory by protecting others.
