Jasmine Berumen (Licea) was a beautiful, energetic, and extremely loving young woman. She was raised in North Bergen and was an EMT in her younger years throughout Hudson County. Her 5 beautiful children were her whole world. Being a mother was one of her greatest joys, and it showed in how wonderful she was to her children.
Jasmine was a victim of domestic violence, and on August 20th she was taken away from her children, family, and loved ones. Jasmines boyfriend shot and killed her, and then proceeded to kill himself. Her 4 younger children were in the house when this happened, and one of her children made the call to the police.
Jasmine's mom Annette is flying to Arizona (where jasmine and the children were currently living) to bring Jasmines body back as well as the children. Annette and her husband have a very difficult road ahead of them. The loving grandparents are going to need our support not just financially but emotionally as well. It is our hope to come together to support this beautiful family and help ease the burden this family has to bear.
These donations will 100% go towards helping the 5 children as well as helping Annette and the family caring for them. These children have suffered the worse loss imaginable and will need counseling, therapy, and a lot of love/support. Help us help this family through this unfathomably difficult time.
A trust account will also be set up soon for any local businesses, non profits, or agencies that wish to donate a check. I would like to thank everyone who has already donated and continues to donate. I am in constant contact with Annette (Jasmine’s mom) and we are working very hard to get her and the children home to NJ. This money raised will be going towards travel expenses, household items for the children, clothes, toys, medical expenses, and any other costs incurred. I have been a good friend of the family for a very long time, and organizing this fundraiser and coordinating efforts are very similar to what I do in my day job. Annette is aware and very grateful for everyone’s generosity and has asked me to continue to assist her with this going forward. (Aimee Focaraccio ) Until Annette returns to NJ I will be withdrawing funds as needed to assist with hotel, travel expenses, furniture, clothing, or any item purchases needed until Annette returns to NJ. After she returns home and either a trust account for the children will be set up or we will link the gofundme to Annette for withdraws and expenses.
