Jenny's Loving Care

Our beautiful Mother, Grandmother, Sister and Friend has found herself in the sunset of her life.
Jennifer Ann Laurie or Jenny, as so many of us know her as, has committed many years of her life caring for others. Her career as a Registered Nurse only places title on what she, as a humanitarian, has been doing her entire life. Mom has always been that voice to encourage and help others to achieve their dreams, while advocating for the less fortunate, defending women’s and children's health issues, and supporting the rights of the gay and immigrant community. Because family is so important to her, people who were once strangers have now become friends and even family, and this network grew as she travelled the country and the world.
Sadly, in January, Mom began her final journey. Following several health concerns and diagnostics procedures she has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma, a terminal and very aggressive brain cancer in which treatment will not benefit her quality of life. Yet, we are praying for a miracle. In the reality of it all, we have only a few months left with her. As this disease slowly takes away the light and laughter that is synonymous with her beautiful smile, our focus has shifted to her comfort and care. We enjoy sitting and praying with her, and listening to her favorite songs of which she can still recite. We are so thankful for this time to love on her and reminisce with her.
As we diligently work to maintain her comfort, care and dignity, we as members of her family reach out to you. We invite you to visit her at the Crystal Care Manor to show her that she is loved and not forgotten. I have now been blessed with the opportunity to care for her two grandchildren, my nieces, that she was raising, Diamond and Enaisha and her dog Sally, all of whom she loved so dearly. I am now in the process of searching for a larger home to bring Mom to so that we can all reside under one roof. In the meantime, Mom’s housing/care cost is $3,500 a month out of pocket. We are also making her final arrangements so that when the time comes for her transition to God’s arms, the celebration of her life will be as beautiful as we remember her. Needless to say; all of this requires financial means.
Dear extended family, friends who have become family and anyone who simply feels the tug on their hearts to give to someone who is not unlike your Mom, Aunt, Grandma or friend. We thank you for enriching her life. Thank you for laughing with her, supporting her and loving her as she has so unselfishly done for all of us. Any and all support will be greatly appreciated.
*****Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...
Love the people who treat you right.
Forget about the ones who don't.
Believe that everything happens for a reason.
If you get a chance , TAKE IT!
If it changes your life , LET IT!
GOD promised several things...
but never promised US that it would be easy...
