Bionic Arm Needed after sepsis and amputations
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Junaid, I am 35 and a father of 2 boys.
I'm raising money after a life-changing illness that led to amputation of my right leg below knee, left toes and left arm above elbow.
In September 2021 I started feeling pain in my right foot. After seeing a number of consultants I was told I had something called long term pain syndrome. The solution was to insert a spinal cord stimulator in my back to help mask the pain.
Two weeks later I was running a high fever and heading to my local hospital. I woke up six weeks later in intensive care at UCLH hospital. I had been in an induced coma as all my organs were failing. I found out I had sepsis and a very rare disease called HLH. The blood diffusion I was given resulted in some parts of my body not having blood running back to them and going completely dead, and so I had some of my limbs amputated.
Now, eight months on, I'm typing this on my phone and I'm thankful that I'm even able to do that. Thanks to the unwavering support of my loving wife, children, family and the amazing NHS.
I couldn't even lift my head or hold up my fingers, but thanks to their amazing support I can now feed myself, and sit up.
I know that a bionic arm will help me to progress even further, and allow me to hug my children again! So please help me to raise money for this, and to support me to raise awareness of of this deadly and life-changing disease.
Thank you!
