Hello. I am currently a single 42 year old woman fighting cancer. I was diagnosed in February of 2022 and started receiving treatment in May. I am unable to work because of the side effects of the medicine, radiation therapy, the constant pain. Of course, pain medicine makes me drowsy and even with pain management, walking is challenging, and I can not comfortably sit down (even on soft surfaces). I am currently consuming meals by laying on my left side; this is more comfortable than sitting. This challenge for me to sit upright also makes driving difficult and painful. Walking is slow and deliberate for me. I can not keep up and have very little stamina. I am relying on the use of a walking stick to help.
Even while lying down,.my legs ache and sitting straight up.is just about nonexistent to the point that I am having my meals while laying on my side.
Preceding the stage 3 Cancer diagnosis, I was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes in 2011 and kidney failure in 2022. I took dialysis for two years before having the transplant surgery where I received a kidney and pancreas. However, now I have no insurance and cannot manage my kidney disease and transplanted organs.
Beginning in 2012, I started having a series of eye surgies including cataract and diabetic retinopathy. The eye surgeries, and scarring from them, has left me with visual challenges as well.
The funds raised from this campaign will help me receive necessary medical attention and pay for everyday expenses. I am not working as a result of the effects of diabetes, kidney disease, diabetic retinopathy, eye surgeries and cancer combined.
