I am now a Blind 70-year-old two sport athlete.
My two sports are “CrossFit and Power-Lifting”.
*At 60 years of age, in 2010, I started training and competing as a blind athlete in the sport of Power-Lifting, as a member of the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) Team.
During the past 10 years, I have become the oldest “Multiple Gold medalist and record setter” Blind Athlete on the USABA team and I plan to continue until 2030 when I am 80+ years old.
On March 11, 2021, I will start competing in the CrossFit World Championship Games as the first 70-year-old Blind “Adaptive Category Athlete.”
This is a 3-week competition to qualify for the finals in April 2021.
I will also be competing in the 2021 USABA National Championships and International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) WORLD Games for blind athletes, later on this year.

Hopefully this will inspire seniors between the ages of 60 and 90 to fight the aging process of poor health by daily making mental and physical activity a hobby!
My friends for the past 30 years, daily since 1989, I live with an “Unique Disability known as Blindness” which has permanently robbed me of the many personal independent economic and social abilities/opportunities of living with the God gifted blessing of sight, Yet I do not let it define me as a person in need of pity or sympathy or a financial hand out from society, instead rather, I ask a Helping hand to achieve my Goal.
Medically, I am a Prostate Cancer survivor and daily, I battle the challenges of being a Type 2 Insulin Dependent Diabetic.
Additionally, the Aging Process of natural deterioration of mental and physical health, tries to slow me down from living a fun-filled life.
I have made up my mind, that I will live out the rest of the days of my life challenging life as a competitive “Two Sport Blind Athlete” as a way of thanking God for the Spirit of life!
