LIGHT UP The Natural History Center!

Projects needed include:

1. Refresh and light the big RVF letter changing identification sign on RT 151 at the parking entrance.

2. Light the large metal RVF identification sign on the building at night.

3. Install a new lighting system for the exhibits and display cabinets.

4. Add electrical outlets and stations to charge the computer devices used by student groups.

5. Update specific outdoor lighting for parking and safety of access outdoors, such as lighting on the steps to the entrance.

The goal is to reach $4000.00 during GivingTuesday by November 29, 2022.

The needs have become a high priority with increased visitation to the museum and Spruce Creek Park. Please donate to the Rockfish Valley Foundation to make an impact on our Environmental Literacy education efforts. We present exhibits and studies on water, rocks, plants and animals for all ages. Certain lighting needs to be upgraded as the RVF Natural History Center and museum suffers from antiquated and insufficient lighting. We must better connect the indoors education to the outdoors classrooms.

RVF was founded in 2005 with the opening of the Rockfish Valley Trail system. Spruce Creek Park has existed since the 1980s but was hugely expanded in 2017. The Natural History Center was opened in 2012 in a historic building that served as a post office, voting precinct, general store, the first sales office for Wintergreen Resort and an art gallery. The museum is celebrating its 10th anniversary.

To better focus its mission and increase its hours, volunteers, and education opportunities, the center needs improved indoor and outdoor lighting, electrical improvements, and replacements. The facilities of RVF are well known as a place to learn, exercise, relax and have fun. The center’s purpose is to create interest in our natural resources and connect visitors to the RVF outdoor classrooms. RVF exhibits must have adequate lighting to support visits and learning by its community of visitors, students and volunteers. We can solve our lighting issues with your help.

As an RVF donor during Giving Tuesday, you will ensure that more students and community visitors feel welcome and supported. Let's give them more light!
Any gift can make a difference from $5 $25 to $100. All amount adds up to us meeting our goal. Please share this with everyone you know.
