Ramadan Reno Project: Daʿwah Ctr, Library, Offices

Donation protected

This blessed month of Ramaḍān, TROID is undertaking an important fundraiser to drastically improve our Islamic centre. In building upon previous major renovations to the brothers and sisters muṣallá areas of Masjid al-Furqān as well as the wuḍūʿ sections, we are now turning our attention to other key areas of the Islamic centre which have not been touched since 2005 (17 years). Here's a quick look at our renovation needs:

In addition to new flooring and paint throughout, the following specific upgrades are needed:

1. Islamic Daʿwah Centre

We are seeking to redesign the TROIDStore area at the front of the building to allocate space for a daʿwah centre that has murals, pamphlets, tables and presentations that serve to invite non-Muslims to Islam. This builds off our effort to make street daʿwah on Weston Rd. and beyond and returns TROID to some of its root activities in the early days.

2. Public Islamic Library

Recently, we purchased $3000 worth of new books for the library. We are planning to expand the library again making it the largest library of authentic Islamic books in Canada. We also wish to add more books in French, Spanish and Arabic. Additionally, custom-built solid wood shelving, tables and new flooring and a rug. Essentially, wall-to-wall Islamic books and a study.

3. Islamic Services Workshop and Private Library

We have a large office space adjacent to the library which we wish to furnish with a standing desk, a private Arabic library (for Canadian students of knowledge to utilise), and cabinets and resources for summer school and future weekend school plans. This workshop space can also be used to prepare lessons and khuṭbahs etc. An additional benefit is that it is located close to the sisters' area and can be utilised for family counselling.

4. A/V Lab and Administrative Office

We have recently upgraded the centre's internet connection to a gigabyte fibre connection in order to stream lessons and conferences in 4K. With this, we need to upgrade our failing mixer and relocate it and all cabling to a small A/V lab adjacent to the main administrative office. We also need to purchase new cabinets and desks for the main office.

5. Street Facing Daʿwah Screens and Signage

TROID is located on the very busy intersection of Weston & Black Creek which connects to the busiest highway in Canada, highway 401. This provides us with a unique opportunity for daʿwah. We need to purchase a new flat screen for the window to replace the 10-year-old LCD to announce prayer times and Islamic events at street level. We also wish to purchase an OLED screen on the wall to permanently display islaam.ca content such as cards and ayāt inviting to Islam. Finally, we need to replace our ageing signage (17 years old) with a modern, more attractive sign that clearly indicates the functions of the centre.

These are important upgrades that directly impact expanding our daʿwah activities and reach إن شاء الله. We kindly ask you for your generous support in this most blessed of months. A month where good deeds are multiplied. May Allāh bless you and your families.
